Education at Gunsgreen House

Primary Schools

Gunsgreen House Trust has worked with local Primary Schools to develop projects and learning materials which support Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence and can be adapted to meet the needs of the English National Curriculum.

The two main areas are:

A six week programme with P5/6/7 using Gunsgreen House to develop a range of activities, including drama, dance, art, creative writing and skills, such as questioning, note taking, etc.. Staff from the House visit the school in character to introduce the topic and the classes visit the House at a suitable point.

A short (two week) programme with P1/2 working around the Children’s Book “Secrets of the Smuggler’s House”, again supported by a visit to the school by the author (one of the Trustees) and a specially themed visit to the House.

Secondary Schools

Gunsgreen are able to work with Secondary schools across a vast number of topics, encompassing art, drama, English, architecture and design, history, environment, the list really is endless. We are continually working with schools to create visits and programmes that link in with whatever they are currently studying, therefore please get in touch with any current topics and we will design a visit to suit your needs

Adult Learning

Gunsgreen House is often host to a variety of workshops for adults to come along to. So far we have put on classes including Cake Decorating, Social Media, Tourism, Burlesque, Interior Design, Drawing and Wood Sculpture.
